Here I am again.....

My, how time flies..unless one's spouse is in London for nearly four weeks. I have managed to keep myself entertained lo these many weeks but I don't think I can take any more!

I've been cleaning - no not the normal every day/week/month type cleaning - the "I'm going in, call rescue if you don't hear from me in a while" cleaning.

The "Why in the world have I started this project" cleaning.

The "When will it end" cleaning.

The "I'll just pull up this entry carpeting marked by who knows how many cats but even our own don't want to go out that door" cleaning.

The "garage sale, Craig'slist, Salvation Army, Humane Society, Take my stuff, Please" cleaning.

I can't take any more cleaning! I've got bruises on my bruises, cuts and scrapes I don't remember getting, paint in my hair, dirt and dust in my lungs, the willies from evidence of all manner of creepy crawlies living and dead AND no one has done much in the way of Daily/Weekly monthly cleaning in the meantime. Oh Right...guess I didn't do that very well anyway which how one ends up with places that need deep cleaning. Furthermore...other than the entryway, all that cleaning isn't even noticeable to the inhabitants of this house much less the casual visitor - there is still plenty more that can be done. Never mind.....*I* know I accomplished something.

BTW...after painting and re-carpeting(indoor/outdoor stuff)the den entryway complete with a brandy new heavy duty "try to leave the dirt driveway outside" mat, the cats are still leery of going out that door...smells like paint and "Oh I'm scared of that new mat so I'll just jump over it quick"...sigh.

Thursday Stuff.......

Thursday is Trash/Recycle day here...well, actually every other Thursday. Last Thursday, I had forgotten to put out the bin so upon hearing them back into the driveway I sprang from bed grabbed the recycle bin and got it out there before they could see me. Since everyone else in the neighborhood has to set their stuff out by the curb and I have a long driveway and an arrangement with them to back in, I feel somewhat obligated to have something out there for them to take. This morning, however, is the off Thursday. I sort of heard them out there but it wasn't until I realized they were backing in that I had nothing for them. Springing to life, I ran to the laundry room and grabbed the bin, and as I got it out there, I also realized this was not my week and they were there anyway...and I was in my nightgown. I'm sure my blurry eyed self was just as lovely as I felt. My intent was not to frighten the poor man and at least I had a bit of a T-shirt type nightgown on, but still, I'm convinced he thought he would go home and wash out his eyes for a few hours after the encounter. I did mutter something about their schedule was every other week but he assured me he knew better. Fine, this makes up for the week you missed me entirely last month but I'm not inclined to make a habit of flashing you guys no matter how many weeks in a row you decided to back down my driveway. So there!

Moving right along...My grocery store is closing at the end of the month. Granted, my Grand Union really isn't up to snuff with some of the fancy big boys around and I really don't buy a lot of meat there but it certainly is convenient for the staples and it's only a mile away. I've been going to that store for 36 years - minus the 7 we lived on the other side of town' sigh. Bye bye, "Grand Onion".

In local news...the roofers I used 11 years ago are being sued by the state consumer fraud division. Yes, I considered them sleazy and I'm convinced they ripped us off but I can't prove it. I paid them $1540 as per estimate then they came back and presented a bill for more - $460 for 14.5 more pieces of plywood at $28 a piece - gee isn't that $406? ..and excuse me, just where did you put that plywood? They also wanted to charge me $150 for 3 days use of their truck. I told them I charge $50 a day for them to park it in my yard. I suspected they were trying to recoup from roofing a portion they did that they weren't supposed to and still had to do the part I did want done. Other than tearing off the new shingles to prove they didn't do the work they said they did, we didn't pursue it any further at the time and never recommended them to anyone. The statute of limitations is 6 years so we are out of luck anyway, HOWEVER, sleazy businesses don't go unnoticed and someone got them in the end.

Where is everyone?? HGJ is still in the UK, Anna left to go back to NC, Lori took the kids to Pittsburgh this morning, Demian stayed in CT, Morgan and Nora are going to Seattle for the weekend...my partner in crime is taking off for Maine....goodness, I just might have to clean or something to keep myself entertained.

Have a good day all........
