My My here I go again...

Another couple of weeks has gone by in a flash, as has half the year already. I've decided it's really depends on where you are standin' at the time you are thinking about time. Ok Ok...listen, when I am looking forward to some upcoming event, time drags BUT we've been in this house for 25 years and it really seems like yesterday we moved in. Oh well, if I think about this too much I may well hurt myself, so I'll be content to think about today.

Today I need to find an electrician, as in professional. Our kitchen lights have been amok for about a week now- the breaker keeps trippin' - it just blew again. There is no pattern to it either; no specific amount of time, no additional use of items, sometimes lights are on when it blows, sometimes it blows in the middle of the night when nothing is in use, sometimes they are on for an hour, sometimes 8 hours, sometimes 8 minutes. I am fortunate in that it's just the lights circuit; all the appliances and outlets have power but I just get to use them in the dark.

Is this a fire hazard? Ya think? I admit to having mild trepidation while following a firetruck the other day - until it passed the turn onto our street. Now, lets just hope we find someone to look at the place who doesn't see the need to do a complete rewiring job. Yes, I understand electricians have children who need to continue their education but seriously, we've already educated our own plus our dentist's kids...and at least contributed to the education of many others.

BTW, I haven't just thrown my hands in the air and decid to call in the pros. Oh no, first I have to assure myself that this was an issue that *I* couldn't resolve myself by replacing a few of these aging X-10 remote control switcheswe have around here. It was a good concept at the time but after 20 years the technology changes the equipment just might be worn out. pppsssttt...these are not the first switches we've replaced in the last few years. ANYWAY, the kitchen issue started, oh, about 5 minutes after the man left for 5 days so I was left with sitting in the dark or trying to do something about it myself. One trip to Lowes convinced me *I* knew more about wiring and 3 way switches than the guys working there, so it was up to me and the interent/google to get this worked out. I replaced switches, I've got them working at point A and point B but not points A or B ..and maybe it's B while A is on or Not B when A is off or something like that but even that does not matter at this point because I can't seem to keep power at the breaker anyway. I didn't injure myself either...unless a very mild zap here or there counts. I don't think it does either, doesn't everyone suffer mild electrocution now and then? Right, so I wired and rewired, looked at all the diagrams over and over, and rewired and flipped switches at A and B and NOW I am going to call in the pros.

Squirrels...maybe vermin ate the wires...maybe I need to call the Verminators. I love that show. Do you watch Dirty Jobs? I love Mike Rowe...oh, never mind...back to lights and electricians. Time to google up one in my area.

Have a fine day all.........

Babbling on..

Not much to write home/blog about here. One would think something of interest would be going on in the last month. Um...guess one would be wrong.

I must be able to conjure up something...we had a visit from Morgan and Nora! They bought us Boom Blox for the Wii. It's a fun game but again it's proven how inept I am when it comes to these sorts of games. Oh well, thank goodness I don't have to make a living at Jenga for the Wii. edit: guess I already mentioned this..;-D

However, I did find and purchase Wii Fit - exercises for the Boomers - out of shapers - don't need to exercise outside the confines of closed curtained living room - right infront of our own TV types. Quite possibly I spent too much time in front of my own TV which is a possible cause for my condition. Oh well, quite honestly I am enjoying using it. Some of the games/exercises are fun enough to want to continue doing and some are just downright scary/impossible and concern for risk of permanent injury. Can't remember the last time those legs could go behind my head with toes touching the floor and we are not likely to attempt it again. Oh yeah, I thought I'd give it a try; I got as far as laying on my back and lifting my legs off the floor...yup yup yup - not even close to getting them past my waist even with good visualization. Snort. Besides, I don't see how the Wii would even know if I was successful with that one or not anyway.

Moving right along...looks like we are going to have to do battle with the trucks in the backyard again this summer. Remember, the truck place likes to let refrigerator trucks park overnight - they need to keep the stuff frozen so they run their compressors. I don't mind the electric ones as much as the gas...water torture...it drives me crazy to hear that buzz/hum all the way into our living room now that we keep the windows open. We do have a noise ordinance with a 10pm deadline. I'm sure they would rather have me call them than the police. Time for a chat again but it annoys me that we have to go through this every year. Better get it done soon since our guest rooms face that direction.

That's about all I can muster up today - have a fine one all
