Same ole Refrain...
So i took the cats to the vet yesterday for their check-ups and vaccinations.
Hrumph
Vet Tech (from behind check in desk): Can you get them on the scale for a weight check?
Me: Of course
Vet Tech(from behind check in desk): ~Elmo first
Me: ok...umm....20.2 pounds
Vet tech (from behind check in desk: Is that WITH the carrier?
Me; Nooooo that's just him.
How insulting, poor ~Elmo. He's healthy although he ought to lose some weight. Is that all they teach in med schools?

August
Shutting windows in the evening and morning........this is the first morning in a while that I didn't open the back door onto the porch and leave it open.
I don't think the kitties have been out yet this morning.
I saw "turned" leaves on a tree yesterday.
We had cream of wheat for breakfast.
A neighbor was doing away with trees that were shading her pool making the water just too darn cold to be enjoyable. (I remember that from our pool too - we still have trees - no pool)

We have a pair of these pileated woodpeckers in our yard. I swear they are quite remarkable - sort of prehistoric looking and yet something quite Woody Woodpecker-ish about them. Obviously, I've yet to get a photo of them.
Corn on the cob and peaches..........well no, no together. they are in season. I love fresh vegetables and fruit this time of year.
The lawn doesn't need mowing as frequently as it does in May/June.
We've had some fierce storms blow through here the last couple of days/evenings but apparently not tornadoes as some thought. Straight line wind verses swirling, doncha know. Anyway, I see even we have a small maple branch down this morning.
I almost lit the pilot light on the gas fireplace this morning...soon, soon.
Too Soon.
Make yourself a fine day all.

Week in Review.....
I've had some stage based disease for nearly 2 weeks.
Scratchy throat
Post nasal Drip
Stuffy nose
Calm before storm "normalcy"
Coughing stage one
Coughing stage Two (crossing legs)
Coughing stage three (pulling muscles/hacking up lung)
Coughing/humiliating self in Costco gaging
I found that a product called Mucus Relief works wonders even if it does sound gross...the mucus is Gross.
I got that under control when the heat wave struck - the deadly HHHs and *I* had to find a new tenant. What part of :"is everything working ok up there?" did she not understand? The garbage disposal had a leak...the hole on the side of the disposal looking like it needed the little Dutch boy's finger was a real clue. Most of the lights were burned out and I needed a crowbar to pull on the faucet in the bathroom. Maybe she was stronger than I.
Anyway, thanks to Craigslist VT, we have a new tenant who is, again, young, female and a little innocent, I think, BUT but very responsible and up front about what she could and could not afford and I thought she needed a break AND I didn't want to send her and her meager finances off to some sleazy hole in the wall. I think she will be just fine in Our sleazy hole in the wall. The fact that she is a vet tech and would take care of the kitties was a plus. I knew there was a reason none of the first few prospective tenants was "it" for me.
So we survived the heat - it's a little better today. I finished reading Harry Potter - forever I guess.
Oh and we had some excitement last night. We heard and saw nothing until the 2 police cruisers were lighting up the neighborhood next door but we still ran out in our jammies to check on our neighbors Duane and Tonie. Fortunately, they were just fine but apparently some young man was "trying out" another young man's brand new dirt bike - @ 11 pm, please, and had a little confrontation with the tree between the yards. (No, not Morgan's tree, the other side of the yards) Hhmmm......ouch....road rash is painful, I suspect.
The sisters are coming to spend the week today. Greg's going to Seattle, I'm going to hang out here and..and...oh yeah there are fireworks Tuesday night as part of the National Night Out celebration.
All in all..a fun time has been had by all..sort of. Have a good week all
