Morning Noises....
The City decided to get on with replacing Laura's trees this morning along with fixing her yard from the truck ruts. I don't suppose it's really appropriate to complain about truck noises a little before 8am, huh? Except...I really didn't need to get up...and the Beep beep beep...WAS annoying considering there probably wasn't a lot of traffic in Laura's backyard to warn of impending truck reversal. AND Laura's yip yip poodles felt their space needed protecting..yip yip yip...(as if they could be seen or heard above the backhoe) which prompted Jasmine in MY backyard to bark her "I feel your pain" because afterall this IS Trash pick up Thursday...sigh. yip yip yip beep beep beep bark bark bark beep beep beep slam bam thank you mam....and i swear i heard someone sawing and hammering too. o/'o/'o/' good morning o/'o/'o/'
..oh yeah...and this is the first morning in weeks that one or more cats didn't have a food dish emergency which required nudging, licking, nipping me or futzing with the window shade. I'm up, I'm showered, I'm dressed, I'm coffeed and juiced. It's 10:24am and it's so quiet outside you could hear a butterfly....
So moving right along... to answer your inquiring minds..NO, I won't be attending a viewing of " Snakes on a Plane". Cripes, I can hardly even type it much less enter a theater showing it. I'm also not at all surprised some sick moron thought it would be cute to let a couple of Diamondbacks loose in a Phoenix Theater...no I'm not referring to baseball players either. Ass...bet he wasn't nice to his mother either. You can be sure that's another film that won't be shown on any cross country flight...
Have a fine day all...I need to look for shower hoses and sprayers.

Navigator 100..I'm there!
I'm not sure I can remember how many years it's been since I actually rode a bike, much less owned one but here it is...my brandy new Trek Navigator 100!

So obviously, I won't be entering any Tour de Vermont events or even being able to get anywhere fast BUT I'll be doing my riding in "comfort" and reasonably upright. Ahem...I do have a nifty helmet AND my bike comes with a bell...snort. What no streamers? I think next year's adders will be a water bottle holder and a speed/odometer thingy...that would be fun. I don't think I will need the short with the built in padding but we'll see.
Ta Ta...Off to ride my Nav-i-ga-tor 100!

This and That Redux
We are having some of the best ever weather...cool sleeping nights and beautiful sunny pleasant days....aaaahhhh. Can't ask for anything better than that. The lawn is still green but not growing as fast; translation: doesn't have to be mowed as frequently.

So we haven't been flying much this year...this hardly seems the time to start but HGJ emptied his bag of lip balm and travel toothpaste and off he went into the wild blue yonder. Seems silly when one can't even get enough toothpaste out of those things to take away onion breath but there you have it. Morgan and Nora, however, win the prize...they landed at London's Heathrow last Thursday morning...yup...THAT Thursday morning. They are fine and having a great time...I'm afraid we might lose them to living over there permanently.
Not much in other news.....I have a dinner date with one of "The Moms" (Demian's high school friends' mother group)I haven't seen her in so long that rumor has it her daughter had another child this Spring and I didn't even know she'd been pregnant! Oh my, I shouldn't let that much time go by between visits. So I'm armed and ready with new photos..steer clear of the Ground Round tonight...there will be explosive laughter going on.
Make yourself a fine day, All........;-D

Tree Huggers

We finally had some excitement around here yesterday...something other than the weather to talk about. Well, not entirely, it WAS windy which made us all aware there were cracking sounds going on around us. ( As I mentioned before...trees falling in the woods with no one around DO make noise.)
So last year my neighbor Laura noticed the big tree on the city's side of the fence had a substantial crack in it's trunk. She called, someone came to inspect and deemed it a low priority issue. Must be the tree got wind of that (so to speak) took offense and decided to do away with itself. After a few loud cracks, heard 'round the neighborhood, Laura again called the city and they said they'd send someone out. Someone DID come within a half hour...someone said it's too big a job for them and would send some local tree experts soon. We stood around watching and waiting and joking about taking bets as to the exact time of collapse...Crack.......Crack..... crack, crack crack. No One had a watch on but it was probably less than an hour from when she called the city...Impressive.

Laura and her puppies........

Catching a break...
I do believe it's cooler out there than it has been the last few days; sometimes I just don't mind those little cold fronts dipping down from Canada, eh?! At any rate, I had never felt so wilted and sweaty and down right dripping wet disgusting as I did earlier this week. eeewww...
So we got somewhat hooked on dried raspberries a few months ago. What evil being decided to yank them out of the stores! I had a stash since I was buying multiple packs whenever I went shopping...then...they were gone and now, so is my stash. I finally got online and started looking, which again, was what I should have done weeks ago when the stash was dwindling. Some places are out of stock but I found one willing to ship me some...well sort of. You see I also found some tantalizing chocolate covered dried fruit as well, that just jumped into my shopping cart...yes fans...things CAN and DO just jump into shopping carts even when they are virtual..amazing! Be that as it may...I got email from said online company telling me it is just too hot to ship chocolate and they would attempt shipment next week. I guess that is preferable to a giant bag of melted ooze and fruit.
I took the opportunity to cart a crate full of cats off to the vet for their annual check ups in this oppressive heat and humidity...yup yup yup...31.8 total pounds of cats plus carrier. Lets just say that ~Elmo has not gained any weight during the course of the year but he could stand to lose a few more pounds. Dr C suggested low carb food for both of them..( diabetic cat food since he suspects ~Elmo would develop diabetes before long anyway)....all fat and protein he says..just like they would eat out in the wild...mice and birds...yeah...now that's all I think of when I open the cans...ground up mice and bird pieces. More eeewww. All in all it was a real thrill to drag them off for their check ups...one of them scratched the hell out of my leg, ~Elmo would not come out of the carrier per usual ( even DR C had the thing upside down trying to shake the cat loose from the sides) Knoel drooled all over my arm while I was holding him during the exam. DR C wished he had more time to make friends with each animal so he could hold them and make them comfortable..yeah doc, you got more than 6 years? Don't think twice about it, Knoel really does like me but he doesn't want me to pick him up either...I was lucky I got only drooled on..or maybe he is the one who slit open my leg. Seriously, we made quite an impression...yellow shirt covered with mostly black fur..open wound with blood pooling around my ankle all mingling with a little sweat because after all, there was mild exertion involved in carting 31.8 pound of cat plus carrier around.
In other news...I listed our snow blower for sale on craigslist and finally got a response yesterday. I didn't hear back if the guy is indeed coming to look at it but I did feel the need to go out into the garage and clean it up a bit and make sure it started well. There had been Leo dust and construction scat all over it. 5 minutes of mild movement in the heat and humidity was good for a half hour of profuse dewiness! of course it was at this time that ~Elmo and Knoel decided to forgive me for carting them off to the vet...sweat plus cat hair = further disgusting eeewww....
With today's forecast of lower temps, I just may get to move more freely about without offending those in close proximity...I think I need to make a trip to the farm stand. BTW, sweet corn is not going to be too abundant around here this year because of the earlier excessive rains, some field are still flooded. Hrumph, as if fresh corn season isn't short enough, we now have to contend with shortages.
Have a good day all...
