How wet is it?

Yeah, I know you want to ask....

It's so wet we had a beaver in the back yard this afternoon looking for some new digs. Great, that's all we need..a damn dam.

We have lived in this house for 23 years, tomorrow. We've had raccoon, and fox, ducks and oppossum, ground hogs, stray cats & dogs, skunks, and a few too many strange 2 legged folks, but we have never had a beaver to my knowledge. Today the beavers are scouting out the turf...now that's wet.

The sun is out at the moment but there was torrential rain a few hours ago...it'll come again I'm sure.

Update...I lied..he/she weren't no stinking beaver...I caught her bringing a mouthful of leaves under the porch....and there she is now!

I'm thinking she must be a very large (pregnant?) groundhog although she has a pretty bushyflatish short tail

Some stuff

Bet you thought I was dead....nope. Wet, soggy, damp, cranky, yes, but not dead, yet.

It stopped raining last week long enough to mow the grass.......it's raining again and I don't like it one bit. We have received more than twice our usual allotment for June....I don't want no more stinkin' rain. I think today's forcast is dire..something about record breaking rainfall and flooding...thank goodness the drought is over.

The saga of the shower door continues. I spent another hour on the phone waiting for customer service to get to me. The bottom line is they have credited our account and they may or may not send some one out to inspect the broken piece but regardless of that, if I don't hear anything from them by July 1st, I can do whatever I please with the door. Yes, Fans, in our disposable, not my job, I'm too good for that workaday, it's cheaper for them to throw out the $500 plus door than it is for them to deal with it. Soooo, anyone need a shower door? All one needs to do is call the manufacturer and order the broken piece and they have themselves a mighty fine shower door which by the way the manufacturer sells for over $800.

We went to Ct over the weekend...snort...those critters make me laugh.

I've been spackling and painting since we got back on Monday. I'm not sure the colors are the same ones I picked out, maybe this is why I don't do this very often but at least it will be fresh and clean and we have a new floor up there! Yes it's true, Leo finished that floor in 4 days! hehehe...Greg and I stood int he driveway watching Leo put a tarp over his truck full of stuff, gathering up his belongings...sniff sniff...our little boy was getting ready to leave us! Ok not exactly, his stuff is still here...heck his stuff is still all over the neighborhood from other jobs he's done..he'll be back.

Time to get to painting...having a good day all.

Cat Days of Summer

lounging~elmo.jpg

It stopped raining! Ok, it's been stopped for a few days now and summer is here. It's been in the high 80s low 90s and a total shock to our systems. ~Elmo seems to have found his place draped across the table on the porch....after all we did have a nice breeze with our heat yesterday. The breeze kept the mosquitoes at bay for a bit, too, good grief those things are huge this year!

The upstairs bathroom is all ready for Leo this morning. What? you though he was gone? Not quite yet. Just one more thing....new floor for the upstairs bathroom. I took out the old carpeting..how disgusting...I even emptied the linen closet and washed down the walls and ceiling. Amazing how even that is an improvement up there. Too bad Ernie used press board on the floors though, it all needs to come up especially around the toilet and tub. More Disgusting. I saved Leo from cursing out Ernie (who built the house), this time though; my half hour task of ripping out the carpet was foiled by needing to get it out from under the walls. Cut rip pull, slice, tug, cut unravel-this would be me unraveling, curse... As with many other rooms in this place, Ernie built walls and closets on top of the carpeting. I suppose nothing beats his building the exterior wall/sliding glass doors on the carpet trick but this is classic, Ernie, as well sigh. I think we only have 3 more rooms of carpeting where we might find it under the closets...there will be an end to the madness some day.

Have a fine day all....if you need me, I may be competing for space out on the porch with ~Elmo....

pssst

It's not raining this morning. this does NOT mean that it won't sometime during the course of the day but for the moment, it's not raining. ..and it's going to be warmer today that it has been of late. 70s even.

Last week I separated and moved some Hosta around my yard. I was hoping to fill in some naked areas and places I don't like to mow especially between a bunch of trees. while doing that I was also trying to think of a landscape plan that would be suited to the yard this year...

What do ya think?

Have a fine day all....feel free to sing along with Annie in the extended entry..maybe the Sun really will come out tomorrow!

ah come on...you all know the tune.........

The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar
That tomorrow
There'll be sun!
Just thinkin' about
Tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs,
And the sorrow
'Til there's none!

When I'm stuck a day
That's gray,
And lonely,
I just stick out my chin
And Grin,
And Say,
Oh

The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on
'Til tomorrow
Come what may

Tomorrow!
Tomorrow!
I love ya
Tomorrow!

You're always
A day
A way!

The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on
'Til tomorrow
Come what may

Tomorrow!
Tomorrow!
I love ya
Tomorrow!

You're always
A day
A way!

Tomorrow!
Tomorrow!
I love ya
Tomorrow!

You're always
A day
A way!

FYI

It's still raining.....

I noticed they had removed all the sharp objects from the grocery store shelves. I suppose it is in the interest of public saftey, after all. I know I'll try to be on my best behavior out there, since you just never know when you are going to run into someone suffering from Intermittent Explosive Disorder, ya know. ( sounds like more of a post Mexican Food afflication to me but then I'm not expert on these matters)

I think the only good thing about this weather is my being able to use my fireplace just a few more days...just to take the chill out. riiight.

Have a fine day all....

Rain Rain Go Away.......

Raining again...it has been raining daily since after I mowed the lawn. I don't like like. Is there some strange Ground Hog Day type thing going on with the twist that maybe I keep waking up in Seattle?

Leo has made great progress on the bathroom this week. I can see an end in sight. I can also see the basement through the hole in the floor where the toilet goes. However, we have a working sink and we even moved a few things into the medicine cabinets. Yup two...we put an electrical outlet in a smaller one on the side wall to recharge our toothbrushes and Greg's shaver. I'm going to like not having all that stuff out on the counter, especially since I no longer have much of a counter. Oh yeah, we had to return the sink we originally picked out yesterday..UUUUUGGGGGGLYYYY...I mean it just didn't not go well with the tile at all. blech blech.

It's still raining.....I think the weather reports say maybe some sun on Monday or Tuesday...I don't like rain.

We've been having a little problem with the frother on our coffee machine so I called to order a new wand. Of course I was asked what the problem was and was also promptly told it is probably clogged and needs a good cleaning. Well fella, that may be the case but I doubt it..just send me a new one anyway even though YOU seem to think I'm wasting my money. It arrived but I didn't really look at it because I really don't use it much at all.........until now. oooooooo the new one is a supped up model that actually sucks the milk out of a pitcher and makes froth so much easier..I like it..I use it all the time now! So what if he sent us the wrong thing..I'll forgive him this one time.

It's still raining.....Have a good day all....

Shadows...

Yup, shadows...that's what one gets when the sun shines. Shadows, I'm seeing shadows. Let's not do anything to scare them away, shall we?

Our neighborhood was built in a swamp so the water has been diverted and directed and pushed around over the years; some of us have lower laying areas in their yards than others. I think there are only 3 of us with real basements and we've remained relatively dry throughout the monsoons of late. Unfortunately, one neighbors tempted the water gods...he has a crawl space and it's nearly full of water in spite of continuous pumping. Whew...We've got some pretty nice green lawns around here though, even us!

Leo and I went shopping at Home Depot again yesterday, they like us there; we make people laugh. I really don't think he minds shopping with me since I don't get all girlie girlie on him. I din't get all fidgety in the door moulding section as he was picking out stuff, I did however ask if we could have some of those nice columns they had there...hey it would have made quite an entrance to the throne room, ya know. He rolled his eyes again. I keep warning him if he continues to do that someday they stay like that. pppstt...I think I heard him muttering something alone the lines of being "done" soon. I think he is really waiting to hook up that toilet as the last finishing touch just so we don't get too excited. Oh BTW, I finally picked out a paint color...yup yup yup..."China Rain"..yup yup..it's sort of a light green. surprised? Probably not, it's only the third nope fourth green colored walls in the house. Whaaat? Green is a nice color.

Time to dig out the lawn mowing sneakers..I don't care for their shade of green as much but with these nice supple green slightly moist sprouts out there, I bet I can add a nice new layer of green to them this morning.

Have a fine day all.....

Weekend Report

yeah. I Know the weekend is only half over but what the heck... I can report anyway.

We woke up this morning to more rain and each of us had sinus headaches Awe aren't we cute 34 years and we share our headaches. I think I'm glad we weren't sharing his headaches in his migraine stage.

Yes indeedy- the infamous shower door arrived last night around 7:30; yes, DA, it was intact-we definitely checked. I was pretty much done squawking at Greg by the time the freight guy arrived. I'm not sure honey was thrilled to hear me go on and on after his 3.5 hr drive home, but he tolerated it well enough and approved, I think, my handling of the situation. I don't think I'll be agreeing to an open ended delivery day in the future, though. to be honest, T really wasn't planning on this one being open ended but the guy hung up quickly when I responded that someone would be home all day; Suspected to continue the discussion and at least break it down to some portion of the day. So now we have 2 shower door kits, they are going to have to cone back and get the broken one - Home spot apparently hasn't contacted them yet to do that which also means Tm paying for 2 for a while longer as well. whoopee!

It's cool enough this evening for a fire. I don't think its stopped raining.... I think I've had enough rain. I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned this before but-I really hate rain.

Time to grab a book and finest eating my raspberries-have a fine night all

Tap.... Tap.... Tap.....

I'm still waiting...at home...not going anywhere...all day...waiting for the freight company to deliver my shower door...in the appropriate number of pieces.

I tried to tempt the timing Gods too. You know, things tend to happen when it's not convenient such as when you are in the shower, or "using the facilities" or if you just stepped out for a second, or ran out to the mailbox. Well, I thought sure if I went down to the basement to roast some coffee, the truck would be backing in right at the point where I couldn't leave the roasting process. Sigh...nope, no truck.

At least I got some beans roasted out of the deal...;-D (Guatemala Barillas)

Tap.... Tap.... Tap.... Leo isn't feeling well. He was hanging around waiting for the delivery as well waiting for the grout to dry on the shower stall floor. Go home... that said, I really home they don't charge me to set this thing in on the hallway floor.

Tap...Tap....Tap....The town street dept scrapper guy came by bright and early this morning along with a load of gravel mixture to spread and compact over our "driveway". I suppose I could have done without the 2 foot long curb setting spike, though. It was easy enough to pick out of the gravel so I guess I won't complain.

Tap... Tap... Tap...I've futzed around for another 45 minutes; it's now 3:30pm. Yeah, they'll show at 4:59pm..last delivery of the day.

Have a fine weekend, all.....

Update: 4:40pm, I'm still waiting and I'm getting annoyed....
4:57pm, gggrrr
5:38pm...I do believe I am about to jump out of my skin and just maybe he doesn't really want to show up right now.
6:24...After I called and had to leave a message because HE was on the phone HE called me back. Yes, he sees it was set up for today but it's on Monday's schedule for some strange reason - 8am-8pm someone home all day. Um...NO, that is unacceptable, I did that for today, I need a delivery time now. HE couldn't give me a delivery time but he WILL have it delivered this evening as soon as he gets a driver. Sorry, someone has to work a we bit later this evening!....and Lord help them if it's broken!!!!!!!!!!

Weather Report...

roofwater.jpg
Hey, Guess what, kids!? The drought is over! We had thunderstorms yesterday afternoon, heavy rain over night and it was still raining when I got up. I had forgotten just how loud that spout of rain off the roof is when it hits the porch..when the bedroom window is open.... when it's 3am...or 5am.

The sun is shining...and it's still pouring down rain. Gonna be one of those days, is it?

Later:

It seems to have stopped raining...temporarily.

The new shower door will be delivered tomorrow; hopefully in the appropriate number of pieces.

I'm sure you can all rest easy now with this knowledge.

Both Leo and Greg asked me yesterday if I'd considered wallpaper for the bathroom walls instead of paint. This is scary on many levels. sigh..I looked online last night but I just may go get real wallpaper books today....500 shades of white paint and they ask about wallpaper? Willies..........

Have a fine day all.....
