Gaze your two eyes on these....
It's Flower show 2006 in Vermont......Seeing these tulips and all the other flowers amid the cold blustery snowy day yesterday was almost worth the $10 admission price. Hmmm we may have to rethink this next year. Remember the tulips. ( Sorry I didn't resize the photo further, the effect wouldn't be as grand...they were spectacular.)
The flower show is good for getting ideas, though...saw some great looking heather plants that would be wonderful for around the front porch area...and some boxwoods...yeah yeah..I have a little better luck when nature just does her thing outside and allows plants to live in the wild..yeah free range plants, that's what I need.
Leo has left us for the time being, almost felt like a member of the family going off to live somewhere else. I did manage to get him to fix my dishwasher and slice off the bottoms of the doors where they didn't fit the new carpet height, first. Aaahhh.... Anyway, he'll be back to remove debris and seal the shingles. We also still have this little issue of water pouring off the roofs (yes plural) when it rains. We've been trying to redirect the flow away from the front door/steps/porch but so far it still comes pouring off in pretty hard Stream. Leo has a plan BUT I think we discovered another way to deal with it....lets not try to hide it or disperse it...lets USE it in a brand new design feature for the front yard...
Behold in extended entry
Hehehehe...what do you think?

New Pets and more
.... or possibly Confessions of a plant murderer.
In an attempt to have some living foliage in our living room, I thought maybe "thinking outside the box" might be in order.... again. Basically, I can walk into any nursery, in any environment and declare that I have indeed killed every specimen in sight during the course of my murderous career. I think lack of watering is my modis operandi, in fact, count on it.
What better solution, besides fake plants that need their own special care-dusting and spritzig - than water plants! So, off I went to the pet store and bought several species of fresh tank plants. They work, sort of. They need their water changed once a week or so since my containers don't have filters, But most of them are surviving quite nicely. Okay. the one in the Kitchen doesn't look too healthy, But the sales clerk didn't think very highly of that one to begin with. Actually it was sort of a leftover plant in a container that really wasn't all that suitable for it....I was thinking maybe I'll just dump it all when..ta da! I discovered pets in there with the plant. Tiny snails...2..then 3. Uuummm, so I have been checking the other plants. Sure enough, I found a couple more snails and some things that are just too small to identify. I'm sure they are really living things because I can see them swimming in a deliberate fashion. I can't wait to see what they develop into...sure hope they are not some vicious plant eating thang; it would just be too hard to explain.

I'm here...
So, I really don't have a whole lot to say.
No snow...I was thinking about taking a photo of a yardstick on our backyard with dead grass and dirt showing. Thought maybe that would be rubbing it in to those who are still digging out from under, so just imagine it to yourselves.
Yesterday was one of those days that tricked me...it was sunny and looked great, but this is February so I thought it must be cold. I bundled all up to go to the grocery store...unbundled on the way there. It was close to 50 degrees. I actually had to shut off the fireplace last night; even on it's lowest settings, it was 80 degrees in the living room and it was getting downright ugly....clothes do make the person and all, ya know.
Still hoping to the weather Gods that we have a normal Spring and Summer though.
My Sister-in-law's traveling companion/co-worker uses a wheelchair. Nice to know our home is more accessible than we would have thought. On the other hand, I have a few phrases I use frequently such as " Walk this way"...sigh. Well, at least *I* didn't ask him how he liked the heated seats in my car...Anna did and she works with him!! At least we were all able to laugh about it.
The computer migration is going well...I must say though that I just might give traveling with the Tablet PC a chance. I do like using it in the living room.
In the news......
Dick Cheney..pul-eeze...I suspect the reason they waited so long to inform the public he pelleted his friend was they were trying to think of a way to keep it from being late night fodder...snort. Bite the bullet, so to speak, take it like a man, Dick!
Time to get a move on for the day.....have a good one all.

Blizzard of 2006
Nada. zip. zilch. Nothing. We were too far north to get any snow but at least it was cold enough for the resorts to make snow for their skiiers.
Now Then, I do find some humor in the fact that my sister-in-law and her fellow traveler , up for a meeting from N.C., got "snowed in" and had to spend an extra night with us. This was with no snow on our end, of course.

Need a laugh?
There are just some things that make me laugh just thinking about them..this is one of them:
Thanks to Pat over at The Introverted Exhibitionist for reminding me of it. ...and Thanks to Google and of course AnElvisFan for making it so easy to find. The last time I went looking for it..I'm not so sure *I* did..thanks, Honey.

Motion Computing
OK, fans.... time for more fun and games! I'm sitting on my couch with Greg's (our) Tablet PC and I'm making this entry by using a handwriting tool on it,rather than a Keyboard Hmmm.... I think its getting used to my printing although we have had a few interesting words appear here that I needed to correct. All in all its rather fun to just write on this thing with the magic pen.
Migration to the "new hand-me up" is ongoing-I wish it wasn't such a painful process for all of us. I've learned quite a few things this weekend though, especially how my pc thinks for me "to make my Life better". Not!
Time to roast some coffee since I am in danger of running out soon. Have a good Superbowl viewing this evening.... for my brother and various northwest friends: G0 SEAHAWKS!! FOR my DIL, her family and friends from Pittsburgh and surrounds: Go STEELERS! For me: Bring on the commercials!

Migration season....
Happy Groundhog Day! No, it's not spring yet and won't be for a while longer here, I suspect, even though there were no shadows to be had here in VT this morning. I always found that confusing..if the groundhog DOES see his shadow that means we WILL have 6 more weeks of winter? Hrumph..it's February..there is six more weeks of winter regarless of shadows.
I'm migrating however...no exotic locales at this time..just computer migration. It's time for me to migrate to my new hand-me-up. It's hardly a hand me down when it's an upgrade from my machine in spite of it's having been used by Greg for the last year. I like the bluetooth mouse and Demian will be pleased that I too will have Wireless G when we come to visit. He used to complain when he had to degrade his system to accept B for me...no more! At this point I'm using both machines...one to do ongoing work and the other to determine what I need on it to do ongoing work. pppssstt..I also have the luxury of leaving the hand me up in the living room to use while I lounge around my fireplace in the afternoons/evenings.
It's weird popping between machines...frustrating sometimes even. it doesn't help when running into an anomalie that is not the result of missing files or programs. The last two days I was unable to get to my moveabletype page to create new entries on this blog...works today. Must be MCS....there are just too many variables for me to solve this mystery...it works today on this computer at this time.
......whew...nothing like the adrenaline rush of getting the trash and recycling out while listening to the trash truck backing up beeps. Must be Thursday.
Off to be productive...have a good day all.
