Hotel Living'

Sometimes people forget they share this hotel or in some cases the planet..with others.

Dear Twinkletoes in 311.......cut it out! I haven't the slightest idea what the hell you are doing up there but there are light fixtures, fans and other things, vibrating down here. I looked for a huge 400 pound guy with size 24 shoes at breakfast this morning..didn't see you. Now maybe you were that cute little size zero sweet young thing..did you have a hankering to rearrange the furniture in the room above us? Maybe you were trying to get in a workout without going to the weight room...lift that couch: drop...lift that end table: drop..lift that chair: throw drop throw drop. Let me assure you, it was not appreciated from 4-9 pm last night nor 5:50am this morning either. CUT IT OUT!! or check out...whichever you prefer.

Dear Ford Explorer owner...nice SUV, pretty, shiny...yes you do keep it in nice condition. However, it DOES fit between the lines in a parking lot...there is no need for you to straddle the lines in order to protect your baby. You would be better off parking it waaaaaaaaaaaay away from the other vehicles to protect it...least you get keyed or something like that. Just saying....especially when it's pouring down rain and other people can't park close to the entrance either.

Have a nice day....a little more sunshine would do wonders for moods around here...mine included, ya know?

Some this and that...

Happy Tuesday! It's yucky out there...wind and rain from the convergence of a Nor'easter and Wilma. Thanks, I decided to stay in at the hotel today. I have plenty with which to amuse myself as long as I have my internet access and books.

We spent lat weekend in Stamford with the rest of the family including a visit with auntie Lisa who had been in NYC on business from Maine. Gotta love the street vendors .. she brought us all Pashmina shawls..even Maura...snort..good price..cheap goats.

kieranhorse.jpg

Kieran came up out of the depths of the basement playroom with Demian's old stick horse looking pretty cute. Didn't hurt sucking up to G'auntie Lisa either since she is the one who gave Demian the horse one year for Christmas in the first place. I'm sure it will even make it to another generation; great horse!

I did manage to take a couple of other pictures during the weekend, but for the sake of not embarassing the subjects, I'll refrain from posting them..even Maura looked a little odd and she is quite photogenic.

Let's see..what else is new. Oh yeah, we might even see some snow out of this storm both here in CT and at home in VT. Leo/Eldon has removed the sunroom from the end of the house. I bet that looks a bit odd. Sure wish I had had more time to load stuff into the dumpster along with the building stuff...the debuilding stuff as the case may be. I did manage to clear out some "stuff" from the laundryroom, though. I guess we didn't really need to keep that microwave from 1975 that weighs a ton and has a cracked inside floor surface. Does Cold Duck go bad? I think we bought that bottle in the 1970s as well. It was time, the dust alone was disgusting nevermind cleaning it off enough to crack it open. sludge. At any rate, it was an opporunity to rearrange the junk in the laundryroom, out with the oldest junk to organize the newer junk..it's a process, ya know.

Have a good day all...I'm sort of drawing a blank here..

o/'o/'o/' all through the night o/'o/'o/'

So last night: once I got up the nerve to get off the couch, turn out the lights and go to bed..and once I convinced myself there were no voices outside talking and no one walking on the porch, I was able to go to sleep and I slept soundly until 5:30 when it was close to time to get up. I think I was emotionally exhausted ..and besides I was depressed because I didn't win the Powerball...hrumph..I would have been happy enough matching 5 numbers but nooooooooooooooooo I only got one. ( Nice to see millionaire NH Senator Judd Grey won the 850K 5 number match..not)

So the way I look at it now..I have survived one of my worst nightmares..having someone in the house skulking around while I'm sleeping..alone..no one else, just me and the cats. I wondered what I would do...sleeping through it, I guess was most appropriate. Of course our Neighborhood watch Commander offered up "Gee Fran, you sleep on the first floor?..Do you think he looked in on you while you were sleeping?" Gee Thanks..gotta love that visual...I hadn't thought of that!

Having discussed the burglary with friends and trying not to be sexist by referring to the culprit as him/her, one declared that indeed it was obvious the invader was male. Since he only took less than $20 out of and searched a Coach purse, Vera Bradley purse and two VB wallets, he obviously didn't realize the disparity in value of his ill gotten gains to the containers of same...snort.

Gotta have a sense of humor in cases like this least we become cynical and paranoid.

Have a great evening all

Hmmm...

Remember when I mentioned the entry before last about the "Home Invaders"?

sigh..........they hit the neighborhood very hard last night including us. Just goes to show, no matter how careful you are, they are going to come in if they want to.

:::::::George Carlin Speak::::::::::

He/She/they didn't get much in monetary value...just my peace of mind.

Sooo anyone wanna Chat tonight, I won't be sleeping.

She who has the most toys...

LGcell.bmp
...probably makes people wonder about her sanity. I broke down over the weekend and bought a new cell phone. (LG VX8100)It's a bit of a brick, wider and heavier than the Motorola I had been carrying. Not only were my old phone batteries dying constantly and the phone becoming a pain, BUT I really really wanted Bluetooth capabilities...I wanted that wireless headphone! bluetooth.bmpI'm a klutz...I can't tell you how many times I've got myself hung up on a drawer knob or door handle while walking around talking with a physical cable headset. It's not pretty and I expect I'd rip an ear lobe eventually if I kept it up.

So, there they are...so far I haven't minded the phone being bigger since it really only has to be nearby the headset (10 meter range) I paired it to my phone yesterday afternoon and used it quite heavily after leaving Greg off at the airport. I liked it. In fact, today's adventure is to "pair" my headset to my Lifedrive....oooooo the exciting life I lead! Actually it was rather funny (remember I'm easily amused) yesterday when I was pairing the headset to my phone...the phone found another Bluetooth device within range..Greg's Tablet PC Ooooohhhh ooohhh look at all the possibilities! I can pair my phone to the PC, I can pair my headset to the PC, I can pair my headset to the Life drive, I can pair the phone to my Lifedrive...

Just how much excitement can one woman handle?????? Ok, so after I'm done doing all this pairing...what do I do with it all? pppsssttt I haven't even taken a picture with my phone yet..I think I'll save that excitement for another day.

Doesn't it still count that I have all sorts of techie functionality at my fingertips even though I don't use half of it?

TA DA!

Ok Ok, I'm home again and really haven't had a whole lot to say lately. But you know me, I can babble on for a bit anyway. I can be the Jerry Seinfeld of the blogging world.

I drove to CT last Thursday, it's amazing how much the grandchildren can grow and change in a couple of months. Yes, it had been that long since I'd seen them..yikes. As usual, my camera never made it out of my bag..it would have been very useful to have while watching Maura at her swim lessons.

I peeped some leaves while driving although there was still lots of green, it was still looking pretty. The Connecticut River was a little full on the way home though, it's been a while since I've seen it that high. Not hard to believe there was extensive flooding in So Vermont and New Hampshire either.

The porch is done..basically. I'll try to take some photos if it ever stops raining. The cats are using the cat door...ok, Knoel is using the cat door. ~Elmo still has issues with it even though I have seen him fit through with little problem. He just doesn't use it on his own yet; I have to hold the flap open for him. Guess we know which cat was responsible for clawing out screens and AC flaps into order to go out to play, now don't we. ~Elmo is just a home body by nature. Yeah, that's his story and he's sticking to it.

Now, do I really need to hear about 2 night time home invasions occurring a mile from my home? Home invasion in the night time WHILE people are home asleep...no I don't need to hear about those. Yes I have locked the doors. Little good that does, the home invaders went in through unlocked windows. Oh yeah, great. Haven't we taken political correctness a little far? Home invaders, my ass, they are BURGLARS! Ahem, excuse me.

I went to an otolaryngologist yesterday..sounds impressive, an ear nose and throat doc. Yup, I'm gonna get a nose job. It'll be an inside job, sort of a nose invasion I guess but I'm hoping I'll finally be able to breathe again. I can breathe, though my nose even, but I think it's only at about 50%, I'm looking forward to more! (Septoplasty & Turbinoplasty) ...and nooo, he isn't saying it will stop my snoring. BTW, he also if I had had my tonsils out and at what age...yes, I was 7. Well it seems I've had tonsil tissue regrowth...hrumph, as if I need regrowth there!

See? I told you I could go on and on and on about very little...Have a fine day all.

One way or another...

fall2005.jpg

Fall colors are a little late coming so far this year BUT I saw this sight as I looked out the window this morning. There's more than one way to get some interesting color going out there.......

I drove home Sunday by myself; had an interesting (not!) redneck Vermonter in his macho truck take exception with my passing him on the right when he wouldn't move out of the left lane. He spent the next 25 miles making sure I never passed him right up until the minutes he pulled off the interstate from the left lane! Jerk, I wouldn't play his game though..I just stayed back.

Besides getting caught up with normal home stuff, I've had to do the coffee roasting this week and none too soon I might add, whew I could have run out!

The porch is coming along nicely..I cleared it off yesterday completely so the "carpet" was put down. Bet you didn't know that green plastic grassy stuff comes in brown tweed , did you?

I also set up the coffee roasting site in the basement...just maybe it will stay there for a little while since I'm not quite ready to have coffee bean scat on my new porch carpet or back in my kitchen. Not yet anyway, maybe after a few more trips up and down the cellar stairs. basement/cellar...cellar/basement? Hhhmmm...my parents definitely had a cellar but I think we have a basement...what's the difference? anyone?

Ok..on with the day...have a good one all.
