This and that......

Let's see...I've managed to keep myself occupied the last few days but I don't seem to have much to blog about. Guess we'll just have to see what kind of babble flows from my fingers.

We did have a good weekend with "the Kids". Some of them anyway. With Lori and the Grandkids off to PA and Nora working, that left the four of us to our own devices. While it was reminiscent of the old days of our family discussions, our DILs were definitely missed and there certainly was a real void in the house without Maura and Kieran. However, as usual, our sons made me laugh too hard..I didn't bring nearly enough clothes with me. Ohhhhhhhhh, the things they find on the internet...a mother shouldn't see and I daresay neither should the father. The previous post concerning Weird Al's eBay song sparked quite a lively conversation concerning intellectual property rights...I was satisfied with posting what I did even though I was probably violating copyright laws etc...I trust all 12 of my faithful readers not to turn me in to the authorities. Toilets were fixed, coffee was drunk, sap was evaporated, dining was out so all and all it was a good time. This coming weekend, we get to do it all again to celebrate Kieran's birthday (mine too)

I've still been working on Kieran's birthday present - the blue paint was a lot runnier than the other colors. I only managed to get a few drops splattered around when I was shaking the container with the cover slightly askew. The blue paint doesn't come off the skin quite as easily as the other colors either. I am the original Pigpen when it comes to paint...or anything else for that matter. Hmmm..maybe there is a little Grandma Fran in Kieran after all.

Coffee of the day is a Mexico Turquesa; it's brewed up quite favorably in the vac pot. Now there are a few things to remember when using this brewer. Switching the lever to high is helpful. Putting the top on securely splashes less water around without the filter rod in place. Ummmm...having the filter rod in place before putting the ground coffee in the top however, is a must and lastly having the cover on the top brewer results in more of the coffee remaining in the pot. Amazing how many ways there are to screw up this process and I should know! Oh yeah...and the first thing I learned is the water goes in the bottom container first. It get to the top with heat.

Now then...it's a beautiful sunny day out there and not toooooo cold so I should probably get a move on and enjoy it. Have a good day all

This faithful reader would never think of it, Fran! Your coffee brewing story reminds me of my temper tantrum last weekend when the toaster "broke." I "fixed" it when I realized it was not plugged in!

Sigh, I swear these things happen more and more often BUT fortunately I didn't mess up on more than 2 of them at any given time...I don't think, well maybe. Another beauty of memory loss, you don't have to keep relivingit. Snort.
..and Beth, I suppose Oily was the culprit who unplugged the toaster huh? I try to blame the cats for those sorts of things.

Happy birthday a little early. Please post a picture of Kieran's present when it's finished.
