Comments

I miss having comments on my blog. I know it's a PITA to sign up for typekey and then have it "fail" to open after. The trick to it all is after signing up/in, you then go back and right click on the sign in and click on "open in new window" and THEN it will give you a comment box to use. I think I need to come up with a simple instruction to use with the comment box.

Damn you Bob whatever number.com you are!

It's interesting to see the different tactics employed by various bloggers to keep from getting spammed. Some employ "type in the word you see in the box above the comment"...some have passworded sites.. today my own comment was emailed back to me with a direction to go back to the site for approval. Some use MT blacklist but I would think that would be hard to deal with "Bob". ...and then I see casino/viagra spam on blogs anyway. Sigh...

So what's the payoff for the spammers anyway? Come on, does anyone actually use the links to the sites they are hawking? Someone must in order for them to remain profitable for engaging in the spamming.

There is "someone" out there who does all those things that perpetuates the existance of all the things I find irritating. Like reality TV...like slutty clothes for preteens (or anyone for that matter)...like driving in the left/travel lane..

oh oh...I interrupt my rant for a travel update. On our Sunday drive back from MA on RT 395 there is actually a big old yellow-orange sign instructing motorists on the proper usage of the lanes. The three lanes are mapped out and in the far left it reads "passing lane", in the middle, it reads "travel lane" and the far right reads "slow lane". So there! Keep right except to pass!!!

Ok...I'm over my rant but if I ever find that "someone", I'm just going to have to have a little chat with them........in the meantime I like comments on my site...really I do...and at the risk of offending my good friend Risa...if Risa can manage to leave comments, ANYONE can..right Risa???

The idea isn't to get your readers to click the links, they could care less about you or your buddies clicking the links. Their agenda is to get their links saturated across multiple sites and let there for google to spider.

You may remember the idea of Googlebombing that started a couple of years ago. Saturating sites with "Viagra" and a link to some sketchy site means that whenever anyone does a google search for viagra the sketchy site is more likely to have a higher page rank, and thus a higher position in the search.

Taking a look at the Daypop top 40 show's how effective it is. Several of the most "popular" sites in the blogosphere at the momment are obviously there because of blog-spamming.

It's important to not only to block the spamming, but also to diligently delete any blog spams that are already on your site less they fester like weeds.

ok that was easier than what I was doing to leave comments....try not to use too many depends at this way Fran...and no you didnt insult me...but I did do it the long way

once I signed in I then went to my start button and opened a new IE page and then went to your blog and the comments were opened....

ok so I am slow.....

yep we were going somewhere on SAt and I was behind a person that was going slower than the speed limit in the right lane...mind you there were only two lanes we get off onto the main road I move to the middle lane...as does he and he is still in front to me...as I put on my signaller to move to the left lane and start the move ...HE MOVES TO THE LEFT LANE!!! Fortunately he sees me in the left lane and moves over to the midlle lane at 30 MPH whta a turd.....

Sunday as I was making a left turn on the left signal a person makes her right turn right in front of me with a fully loaded car....I guess she doesnt knwo whta it means whent he person coming at you leans on the horn.....

BTW...drugs are good....I had some really good ones today for the colonoscopy test.....so off to get some rest....

Hey Fran, Elizabeth is looking into the Culinary School up your way. Maybe I would get a chance to come and visit you. Of course that wouldn't be for 2 more years. She's getting the business end of it out of the way at our local community college now.
