Noises

I suppose there are good noises and bad noises...mostly I don't care for a lot of extra noise; it's annoying to me. I don't like background noise as in having the TV or radio on just for the sake of having sound. I certainly can't read with distractions like that. I won't be buying one of those white noise things to help me sleep either....willies at the thought. I dislike having the fan on or the AC running at night even if it is hot and stuffy in the bedroom. I don't care for other appliance noises either...vacuums, dishwashers ; it's such a relief when they stop. We have a wooden porch and steps next to our bedroom......the rain pouring of the roof makes quite a racket on occasion. Considering I also don't like water noises,rain doesn't usually bother me. On second thought, I do like water noises, ie streams and oceans, water lapping the shores waterfalls. I just don't like "water where it doesn't belong" noises. ie running toilets, washer hoses letting go and flooding the first floor, dishwasher throwing up.

Which brings us to the point of today's entry......you did wonder what the point was didn't you? Last night it rained...hard enough to wake me up since it beats on the porch with such force. I can usually go back to sleep when that happens though. However, in the wee hours this morning there was a new noise.....the rain was beating on a plastic jug I had left out there to use to water my hanging plant. New noises...I can't handle new noises when I try to sleep..this thing kept pinging...drove me crazy..water torture for sure! I did finally shut the window but I could still discern THAT noise. So annoying.

So compounding annoying appliance noises, there is the even more annoying "unusual" event appliance noise signaling a potential impending disaster. My dishwasher is making a funny noise this morning...I'm not finding it humorous.

Scary noises...sirens, cats fighting, fire alarms, hurt children screams, vehicle braking noises...

Annoying noises...Air conditioners, lawnmowers when they are the neighbor's, all appliances, dripping water faucets, whiny voices, chalkboard noises, ice cream truck jingles ( more than 45 seconds worth), mosquitos, backing up the truck noises

But there are some "good noises"...baby sleep sounds, children giggling especially baby giggles, purring cats, ice cream truck jingles (less than 45 seconds)

What do you like, dislike? Hhhhmmm?

Noises that make my heart jump and phone calls too early in the morning or late in the evening.
