Just give me that old time Religion...NOT
Today's major task was to get a notarized statement off to Morgan for their pre-wedding ceremony meet with the the priest on Friday. simple, right? Wrong, again, Bucko.
Well the task of getting a statement notarized is simple enough...50 cents and a little trip to the Town Clerk"s office get's that done. Coming up with a reasonable sounding statement attesting to the fact that something never happened is another story.
Some first attempts:
Please excuse Morgan Johnston his heatheness..his parents never had him baptized.
As Morgan Johnston's mother, thus being someone who has known him throughtout his whole life, I can attest to the fact that no Priest, Minister, nor Shaman et al has ever performed baptismal rites on him.
Furthermore, I felt compelled to expand on all the other things that were not done to him for which I have no proof either, but I guess that's an exercise for another day.
In the meantime, my statement has a notary seal and is in the US postal system as we speak. I can't even begin to tell you about the look I got from the city clerk when I asked her to perform her notary duties. "Yes, please, just notarize my signature...I'm not asking you to notarize the statement." I'm sure I heard snickering as I left.
I'm still left wondering why in the world verification for a non-event is necessary anyway. Did "the church" have a rash of baptized people claiming otherwise? For what purpose? Am I missing something here? Of course, I must, there has to be a logical explanation for this based in some theologial premise with which I am not familiar....being the non-practicing but baptized Methodist that I am.
